Many people gain a lot of weight during festive holidays. Do not be one of them.
For sahur, choose healthy foods including wholemeal bread, wholemeal biscuits, a handful of nuts and fruits. Choose low fat for milk, yogurt, cheese or butter.
During breaking of fast, we may be tempted to choose the more delicious but unhealthy foods as we feel that we should be rewarded for fasting throughout the day. It is advisable to choose healthier alternatives for the breaking of fast. You may choose healthy, lower calorie foods such as brown rice or Basmathi rice, lots of fruits and vegetables. Even if the fruits is sweet, it is still okay to take them because the fruits contain natural sugar, unlike the table sugar that we add into our foods.
For meats and fish, choose soup, steamed, grilled, barbequed and baked styles of cooking instead of deep fried.
Delicious, but do avoid overindulging.
Please make sure you take your weight loss medicines during raya. We tend to overeat and exercise less during festivals and gain a lot of weight then. There would be a lot of food when we visit our friends or relatives houses. Therefore, you should take your weight loss medicine to control our appetite, burn fat and increase metabolism.
